Keeping a conversation

Keeping a conversation writes the whole thread to a folder on your own disk: messages, images, voice notes and timestamps, in a format you can open with KeepChats uninstalled.

Keeping a thread

Open the conversation, then open the KeepChats side panel. It detects the thread you are looking at and shows how many messages it found. Choose your formats, decide whether to include media, and start. The panel reports progress as it walks the history; a long thread takes a while because it is fetching every page, not because anything is wrong.

Choosing a format

HTML gives you a readable page with the media embedded — this is the one to pick if you want to actually read it later. JSON gives you structured data if you intend to process it. Plain text is the smallest and the most portable. You can select more than one; they are all written into the same archive.

Quick export

For a thread you are already looking at, a quick-export control is injected beside it so you can keep it without opening the panel at all. It uses whatever settings you last chose.

Where the file goes

Into your browser downloads folder as a single archive. Open the HTML file in any browser. Nothing in that archive phones home, and it keeps working offline and after you uninstall — that is the point of it.
