KeepChats is a content toolkit for Reddit users — it lets you share media, export and back up your own data, and use AI writing help. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have. It applies to the KeepChats apps (iOS, Android), the browser extension, and this website.

Not affiliated with Reddit. KeepChats is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Reddit, Inc. "Reddit" is a trademark of Reddit, Inc. KeepChats does not scrape Reddit or use Reddit's API — it works with content and data you provide.

What we collect

Account & identity — your name, email address, and optionally a phone number, profile details, and avatar. Used to create and secure your account and provide the service.
Content you upload — photos, videos, voice notes, and files you choose to share or export. Stored so the app can deliver, export, or back them up for you.
App activity — your export, backup, and AI-generation history and usage counters, so we can show your archives and enforce plan limits.
Diagnostics — crash reports and related device information via Firebase Crashlytics, used only to find and fix bugs.
Device identifiers — a Firebase installation ID, App Check token, and (if you enable notifications) a push token, used for security, app integrity, and delivering notifications.

What we do not collect

No payment or financial information in the app. Billing is handled on the web by our payment processor (Paddle); the app never collects card or bank details.
We do not sell your data to anyone, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We do not need or ask for your Reddit password.

How we use your information

To provide the core features: sharing media, exporting and backing up your data, and AI writing help.
To operate your account, apply your plan's limits, and keep the service secure.
To send notifications you have opted into.
To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers needed to run KeepChats, acting on our instructions:

Google Firebase — crash reporting, app-integrity (App Check), and push notifications.
AI providers — when you use an AI feature, the text you submit is sent to our AI provider to generate the result. It is not used to train their models under our agreements.
Paddle — subscription billing, on the web only.
Cloud hosting & storage — to run the service and store your content securely.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

How we protect your data

All traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS/TLS.
Authentication tokens are stored in the device's secure store (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).
Sensitive credentials are encrypted at rest.

Data retention & your rights

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time — from the app under Settings → Account → Delete account, or via keepchats.com/delete-account. Deleting your account removes your personal data and content from our systems, except anything we must retain for legal or fraud-prevention reasons. You may also request a copy of your data by emailing us.

Children

KeepChats is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
