Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and KeepChats. By creating an account, installing the browser extension, or using the iOS or Android app, you agree to them. If you do not, do not use the service.

Not affiliated with any chat platform. KeepChats is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Reddit, Inc. or any other messaging service. Platform names appear here and on our site only as plain statements of what KeepChats works with, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.

What KeepChats does

KeepChats helps you keep your own conversations: it exports threads you are a participant in to files on your own device, sends video and voice notes that a chat app would otherwise refuse, and offers writing help that runs on a single message at a time. It works alongside a session you are already signed in to. We never ask for your password to any other service, and we could not use it if you offered.

Your account

You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your credentials to yourself and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access.
One person per account. You may not resell or share access.

What you may and may not do

You may use KeepChats on conversations you are a participant in, to keep and move your own data. You may not:

Use it to collect, scrape, or archive other people's conversations that you are not part of.
Use it to harass, surveil, or expose anyone, or to publish private communications without the consent of the people in them.
Break the terms of the platform the conversation happens on. Your agreement with them is yours to keep.
Attempt to breach, overload, reverse-engineer, or circumvent limits on the service.
Resell the service or present it as your own.

Consent connections exist because of this: a connection is a two-sided agreement, and either side can withdraw it at any time. Copying stops the moment they do.

Your content

What you export, send, and write stays yours. We claim no ownership of it. We store only what is needed to run the service you asked for — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what that is. Local exports are written to your own device; whether a copy also goes to cloud backup is your choice.

Plans, billing, and renewals

The free plan needs no card. Paid plans renew automatically for the period you chose until you cancel.
Buying on the web is handled by our payment processor. Buying inside the iOS or Android app is an in-app purchase charged to your app store account, and is governed additionally by that store's terms. Cancel an in-app subscription from your device's subscription settings — we cannot cancel it for you.
It is one subscription across surfaces: buy it on one and it unlocks on the others.
We may change prices. Existing subscribers keep the price they agreed to for the current period, and we will tell you before a change applies to a renewal.
Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. For web purchases, contact support@duskel.com.

Trials

Where a trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial window unless you cancel first. Cancelling during a trial keeps your access until the window closes.

Availability

We aim to keep KeepChats running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Features may change, and we may add, alter, or retire them. Anything you have already exported is on your own disk and is unaffected by any of that — which is rather the point.

Ending the agreement

You may stop using KeepChats and delete your account at any time; see Delete your account. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or that we are legally required to act on. If we do, you keep everything already exported to your device.

Disclaimers and liability

KeepChats is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and we will give notice of material changes through the app or by email before they take effect.
