Kept threads on your phone

Kept threads are stored on the device itself. They open without a network, and they open whether or not you still have a subscription.

Reading a kept thread

Open Kept from the app. Each entry shows the conversation, how many messages it holds and how much space it uses. Tap to read it — this is local, so it works in a tunnel, on a plane, and with the app in aeroplane mode.

Getting it off the phone

Use the share control on any kept thread to send the archive anywhere your phone can send a file: your computer, a cloud drive, or an email to yourself. The archive is the same format the extension produces.

Removing one

Swipe a thread and delete it. That removes the local copy immediately. If cloud backup was on, deleting the local copy does not delete the cloud copy — remove that from the web panel.

Storage

Media is what fills a device. The app shows how much each thread uses so you can decide what to remove. Deleting a kept thread never touches the original conversation on the platform it came from.

Do kept threads sync between my devices?+
Only if cloud backup is on. Local-only is the default, because the promise is that your copy is yours and on your disk.
What happens if I delete the app?+
Local kept threads go with it, the way any app data does. Export anything you want to survive before uninstalling.
